Obituary of Leo C. Roehl

Leo C. Roehl, age 94, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his home near Chili.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday April 27, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. The Reverend Dan Schoessow will officiate. Burial will follow at Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church in Chili.
Leo Clarence Roehl was born August 9, 1922, in the Town of Fremont, Clark County, to Herman and Clara (Ackerman) Roehl. He attended the Cozy Corner School and graduated from Granton High School in 1941. He then farmed and hauled milk for Greunke’s Cheese Factory. On April 19, 1947, he married Verna Elnora Grobe at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2017.
Leo and Verna farmed forty some years and Leo also drove slab truck for his brother Glen, drove truck for the Marshfield Canning Co. and later drove truck for C. W. Transport delivering freight to Marshfield stores.
Leo enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards, especially sheepshead.
He is survived by his three children: Elroy of Chili, and twins Darrel of Neillsville and Cheryl (John) Fields of Loyal; four grandchildren: Angel Serenity, Jeremy (Cassandra) Menke-Fields, Jessica (Tony) Weber, and Travis (Heidi) Roehl; five great grandchildren: Hayden and Gavin Weber, Kyler and Alygaeja Menke-Fields, and Jill Roehl; and one sister Lila Nelson of Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Verna, brothers: Glen, Alvin, Russell, Walter, Harvey and Carl and sisters: Vera Carstensen and Evelyn Roehl.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Leo’s name to Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, WI.
