Thomas P. Baer
Age 74, of Marshfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 14th at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, surrounded by the loves of his life - his wife and daughter, his son-in-law and two dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30AM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer with Sandy Webb (a family friend) officiating. Following his service, a time of sharing thoughts, stories and reminiscing will be held. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at the funeral home from 9AM until time of services.
Tom was born in Marshfield on July 18, 1940, to Ray and Florence (nee Reinhard) Baer. Tom graduated from Columbus High School and Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis. He was employed in the airline industry by Northwest Airlines in Bismark, ND. He served in the US Army in the 42nd Armored Division in Fort Jackson South Carolina and Fort Hood Texas. Upon his discharge he returned to the airline industry with Allegheny Airlines in Indianapolis, IN.
Tom was married to Suzette Metzdorf on August 28, 1971, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Tom’s second love in life was music. He loved music as a youngster and built and enlarged on that for 60 years after. Tom loved to dance with his wife to the classy bands like the Howie Sturtz Orchestra, Charlie Justman Orchestra, Music Connection, Don Peachey and other fine bands. If weekly troubles piled up, Tom knew they were just a dance and song away. Hundreds of new and loyal friends were made through the years from the dance floors.
Tom is survived by his wife Suzette, his daughter Candace (John) Delis, his grandson Kadyn, and his furry grandchildren, Lilly, Holly and Wembley.
Tom always believed in the Roy Rogers saying “It’s not the trail you take, but the way you take the trail.”
