Obituary of Norman P. Knutson

Norman P. Knutson Age 90, of Marshfield, formerly of Spencer, left the loving arms of his family and returned to the Lord in the early morning hours on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 12noon on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Zion Methodist Church in Marshfield. Anola Becker will preside. Military honors conducted by Mueller-Hintz VFW Post 1866 of Marshfield will follow the services at the church. Burial will take place in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at the church from 9AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Raynee Randall, Kimberly Powers, Eric Knutson, Kyle Knutson, Jayme Blenker, Matt Knutson, Bo Blenker, Rebecca Wilsmann & Zachary Wilsmann. Norman’s honorary pallbearer in memory will be his late granddaughter, Jodi Blenker. Norman was born on December 13, 1924 in Ferryville, WI, the son of Alex and Anna (Pederson) Knutson. He attended Oakridge Grade School while living in Ferryville and he graduated from high school in Lansing, IA in 1942. In 1944, he enlisted in the United States Army serving tours in both the Philippines and in Japan. On December 10th in that same year he married the former Minerva Espe. They later divorced. Following his honorable discharge in 1946 Norman began farming in the Viroqua area then later worked as a cheesemaker in Spring Green then Marshfield until his retirement in 1987 from Morning Glory Dairy in Marshfield. On June 6, 1987 Norman married Dolores Sandley in Spencer. Sadly she passed away July 10, 2014. His hobbies included fishing with his friend Bob, boating, traveling, reading and watching TV. He loved spending hours dancing the waltz, the polka or the foxtrot. Norman was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church and the Mueller-Hintz VFW Post1866 of Marshfield. Survivors include his children: Kelly (Christine) Knutson of Bay City; Larry (Alyce) Knutson of Wisconsin Rapids; Rita Blenker of Marshfield; Kari (Larry) Wilsmann of Auburndale; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Norman was further survived by his extended family, his stepchildren: Dale (Betty) Sandley of Sheboygan Falls; Debra (Mark Kaiser) Griepentrog of Spencer; Dori (Mark) Fuehrer of Marshfield; seven step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Minerva, his second wife Dolores, four brothers, four sisters, a granddaughter, Jodi Blenker and a great grandson, Dylan Knutson in infancy.
