I had the pleasure of working with Chet many years ago at Kuhl Implement at Granton. He was about 20 odd years older than the rest of us young boys but that didn't make any difference to him. He could pull a prank or use his special style of humor to make a point. There were times when he was dead serious about what was right or wrong as to how things should be done and wasn't afraid to let us know. I felt that Chet had a great personal faith and lived his life as such.
One particular story comes to mind. We had a blacksmith's anvil with a pointed end and weighted about 50 pounds. Chet would tip it point up, wipe his hand clean, grasp it with one hand around the point and pick it off the floor. He would often challenge us boys to do it. Of course none of us were ever able to do it. To this day I have never seen anyone do that feat.
Chet was a great coworker and took pride in his work and I believe that the Lord will greet him and say, well done good and faithful servant. Our sympathy goes out to Marie and the family.
