Erland A. Shelley
Age 75, of Unity, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the Palliative Care Center at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
His memorial service will be held at 1:30PM on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity with Rev. Al Houts officiating. Committal services will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday at the church in Unity from 10:30AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Erland’s grandchildren.
Erland was born September 26, 1939, the son of Leon and Alma (Hildebrandt) Shelley. He was a graduate of Colby High School. Erland was united in marriage to Janice Tennis on July 26, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. He was employed by Weinbrenner Shoe Company located in Marshfield for over 30 years.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, watching and cheering on the Green Bay Packers, spending time at their cabin with his family, working at the Unity Area Horse Pulls for many years and racing cars in his younger years. Erland was a member of and past church council member at Trinity Lutheran Church and a former fireman for 20 years and as a chief for a number of years for the Village of Unity Fire Department.
Survivors include his loving wife Janice of Unity; three children: Dawn (Greg) Geiger of Marshfield, Kevin (Susie) Shelley of Unity and Lana (Ron) Wilbur of Withee; his grandchildren: Melissa (John) Cokl, Michelle Geiger, Jonathon Geiger, Jenna Geiger, Adam Shelley and Sierra (fiancé Brad) Shelley and great grandchild Tylan Cokl. Erland is further survived by a brother DuWayne Shelley and a sister Jackie (Mark) King; two sisters-in-law: Wanda Shelley and Diane Shelley; one brother-in-law Rich Boushon along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Erland was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Annette “Buzzy” Simon and Cydel “Sugar” Boushon and two brothers: Merlin “Sonny” Shelley and Carroll “Butch” Shelley; one sister-in-law Janice Shelley and one brother-in-law Don Simon.
