Randolph J. “Randy” Olson Age 82, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 4, 2015. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield with Pastor Bob Lesher officiating. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow Ceremony will take place on Sunday evening at 7PM. Randy’s pallbearers include: John and Tyler Hiller, Steve Linzmeier, Allen Moen, Dale Brux and Gary Laen. Randy was born May 1, 1933, in Utica, WI in Crawford County, the son of Clarence and Bessie (Solberg) Olson. After graduating from Viroqua High School he worked for the Hanson Shoe Store located in Viroqua. He was united in marriage to Ann Lee Peterson on March 10, 1956. Sadly, she passed away March 13, 1977. Randy later married Janece Moen on May 6, 1978 at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore. She survives. Randy was employed in retail sales for many years. He worked at JC Penney Department Store until 1978 then later for McCain’s both in Marshfield. Other work places included Boston Furniture Store, Furniture and Appliance Mart and Mitten’s Furniture of Marshfield until his retirement in 1998. Besides spending the day fishing, Randy loved cooking, so much so he often was quoted saying “if I can cook, then it’s a good day”. It was that positive attitude that carried him through all those sick days he endured. For over eight years, Randy and Jan never missed a Marshfield Tigers home football game-he was proud of that. He had an unforgettable sense of humor even if you only met him one time. Randy loved the time singing in his barbershop quartet. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church also serving as an usher and was a member of the Marshfield Elks Lodge #665 and past Exalted Ruler. Survivors include his wife Janece of Marshfield; his son Joel (Laura Flinchbaugh) Olson of Madison; two grandchildren Charlotte Olson of Madison and Adam (Angela) Buckli of Eau Claire along with many other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ann Lee, a daughter Judith Olson Buckli, a granddaughter Nicole Buckli, a brother Lavern Olson and a sister-in-law Viola Olson. If desired, memorials to either Children’s Miracle Network, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society are being accepted in Randy’s name. The family would like to thank the Oncology Department and the Heart Failure Center at the Marshfield Clinic for the care and compassion shown to Randy. Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer is assisting the family. Visit www.lifetributesfuneralhome.com to share thoughts and condolences.
