I had the honor and priveledge of knowing Dave for the last 5 years and working with him for 2 of those. Dave was one of the nicest and easiest going people I've ever met, he was very special to me. Dave and I usually had lunch together (we loved sharing a pizza) and it was always fun being around him. The only time we would argue was when I'd sneek the check to pay for lunch. Harvest season was always fun with Dave. Either riding in the combine with him, pulling the grain cart or fixing something, we always worked good together and had fun doing it.
Dave and I enjoyed talking about snowmobiling. He liked to talk about the "good old days" and various club activities and he was always interested to hear about the many trips I've been on. I always liked listening to Dave talk about life on the farm and how different things were when he was a kid...even some stories when he got in trouble with his father.
Dave and I stayed in touch after our careers lead us down different paths. What started out as a phone call just to say "hi" usually ended up lasting at least a half an hour...we always had something to talk about. I always enjoyed seeing Dave at the baseball field in Mosinee while he was there to watch his Grandson's (who he was very proud of) play ball. I was able to see Dave for the last time this past June at a ball game. It absolutely broke my heart when he told me about his illness, I'll never forget it.
There are few people in my life that I've met who've left an impact on me like Dave has, he was one of a kind. From the first time I met him I felt as though I knew him for years. I'll miss Dave very much. I'm so glad I had the honor to know him even though it was for only a short time. Rest in peace, Dave.
