Obituary of Dorothy L. Kauffman

Dorothy Loraine (“Nitty”) Kauffman, Age 80 passed away Thursday October 8, 2015 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Department in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She had been having health issues and her health had been in decline for quite some time.
Her funeral service will be held on 2 p.m. Sunday October 25, 2015 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 714 W. 14th Street, Marshfield, Wisconsin. Reverend David Schofield will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday at the church from 9:30 a.m. After the funeral services there will a dinner at the Knights of Columbus at 400 W. Upham, Marshfield, Wisconsin. Committal Services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday October 26, 2015 at Loyal Cemetery, Loyal, Wisconsin. Dorothy’s sons will serve as pallbearers.
Dorothy Loraine Kauffman was born on March 19, 1935 to Herman Richard Hugo and Elsie Marie (Voigt) Triebs in their home in Elroy, Wisconsin on their home farm. She attended Miller Prairie Country School and later graduated from Elroy high School. On July 7, 1953 she was united in marriage to Richard Kauffman in Hillsboro, WI. In her early employment years she was proud to have worked for the John Oster Manufacturing Co. in Racine, Wisconsin where she made parts for the B-29 Bomber as well as the Nash Rambler Co. in Kenosha Wisconsin. Later she and her husband Richard moved to Hillsboro where they bought his father’s dairy farm. They later moved to Loyal, Wisconsin where she continued raising her family and operating their dairy farm. After farming, she found employment at The Mill Street Inn Restaurant and Amber Café located in Loyal. Later she moved to Greenwood, Wisconsin where she resided and worked at Weather Shield making screens and windows.
She was very hard working and frugal person throughout her whole life. She busied herself with growing and tending her garden, canning food, making jams and jellies, cookies, pies, and many delicious things to eat for her family and friends. In addition to all of this she patched pants, (not only for family but some of their friends) and she babysat many of her grandchildren. Her hobbies included bowling with friends, and making beautiful quilts for members of her family. Nitty was a long time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Dorothy is survived by her six daughters and five sons: Michelle (Layne) Jorgensen of Edinburg, TX, Raquel Kauffman of Edinburg, TX, Tamra “Tami” (Michael) Anderegg of Great Falls, MT., Roland (Jenny) Kauffman of Stratford, WI., Reginald (Lisa Larson) Kauffman of Spencer, WI., Jennifer Kauffman of Lake Mills, WI., Jerome Kauffman of Loyal, WI., Kip (Jennifer) Kauffman of Stratford, Wi., Renee Ossman of Stratford, WI., Chris Kauffman of Greenwood, Wi., and Mary (James) Bauman of Mosinee, WI., twenty-one grandchildren, five great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Donald Leroy Triebs and sister-in-law Mary Ellen (Vernon) Triebs both of Elroy, Wisconsin, a sister-in-law Nancy (Knudtson) (Norman) (Triebs) Hansen of Gillette, Wyoming, A sister-in-law Shirley Ann (Kauffman) ( E.G.) Van Meter of Kerville, Texas as well as other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Elsie Triebs, a daughter Tamra in infancy, her husband Richard Kauffman, and two brothers: Norman Robert and Vernon Richard Triebs, and one sister Lorna Marline (Sletten) Webster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Dorothy’s name if desired to be directed to Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marshfield.
