John E. Dick Sr.
Age 79, of Spencer passed away unexpectedly at the Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
His Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. James Logan will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the time of service. Full military honors performed by Unity American Legion Otto H. Kops Post 358 will follow the service at the funeral home. Committal will be held privately at a later date.
John was born June 13, 1936 in the Town of Spencer, Clark County the son of Jacob and Marion (Fischer) Dick. He was a graduate of Columbus Catholic High School. Upon graduation John served his country in the United States Navy working on a radar ship. He was married to the former Margaret Fischer and to this union five children were born. They later divorced. Years later, John met Jane Henseler of Marshfield and together they became each other’s special companions. She survives. He owned and operated a concrete business, John E Dick Construction from 1971 until 1983. He was then employed with the BAC Local 6 Union Finishers as a cement finisher until his retirement in 2000.
His hobbies included spending time with his family, deer hunting and making firewood. John was a member of the Unity American Legion Otto H. Kops Post 358.
Survivors include his significant other Jane Henseler; his five children: John Dick Jr. of Dorchester, David (Sheri) Dick of Marshfield, Jenni (Chris) Risch of Spencer, Jeff Dick of Loyal and Mike Dick of Spencer. John is further survived by eight grandchildren: Ashley (Blake) Shepard of Onalaska, Dawson, Jacob & Emily Dick of Marshfield, Cheyenne Dietsche of Spencer, Cameron Risch of Spencer, Preston DuPee of Pittsville and Chelsea Dick of Owen; four brothers and nine sisters.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one sister in infancy and three brothers, one in infancy.
