Floyd W. Olson,
Age 64, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery’s Veterans Field of Honor in Marshfield with full military rights conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home in Spencer from 9AM until time of service. acting as pallbearers will be Bianca and Brent Peterson, Darren Olson, Kelly Rodman, Dan Rueden, Chuck Drews and Tommy Marcon, Jr.
Floyd was born August 1, 1949 in Medford, the son of William and Mildred(Williams) Olson. After graduation from Abbotsford High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War for 18 months. He married the former Judy Kramer but they later divorced. Floyd was employed as a professional over the road truck driver driving thousands of miles at one point as an owner/operator and later driving for various companies.
His hobbies included deer hunting, spending his winters and panning for gold in Arizona, provided panning demonstrations while out in Arizona and of course Floyd had a special love for his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed camping out at the TNT Motorcycle Club grounds and took pride in keeping up those grounds for other club members to enjoy.
Floyd was a longtime member of the TNT Motorcycle Club and held the office of treasurer for the club and helped organize their charity rides, was a member of Gold Prospectors Association of America and also held the office of treasurer for them
Floyd is survived by his mother, Mildred Olson of Abbotsford; one daughter Jennifer Peterson of Rib Lake, three grandchildren: Bianca Peterson of Prentice, Brent Peterson of Rib Lake and Riley Eisner of Rib Lake; one brother Roger (Arlene) Olson of Atlantic Beach, FL and one sister Karen (Tom) Marcon of Athens along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and comrades.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Olson.
