Evelyn E. Roehl
Age 88, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer The Rev. David DePaoli will officiate. Burial will follow in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman in Clark County. The visitation will be from 9:00AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the church in Spencer.
Evelyn was born March 11, 1924 in the Town of Fremont, Clark County, to Ernest and Emma (Franke) Sanger. She graduated from Marshfield High School and Stevens Point Teachers College and taught one year at Beaver Center School. On June 19, 1945, she married Alvin Roehl in the Town of Fremont. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2003.
Evelyn assisted her husband in farming southwest of Chili until 1958 when she resumed teaching grades 1-8 at area schools. In 1965 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Stevens Point and continued teaching third grade at Loyal Public Schools until her retirement in 1979. The couple lived in Spencer from 1975 until December, 2001 when they moved to The Purdy (Angelus Retirement Community) in Marshfield. February 2012 she moved to Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Colby and in May went to the House of the Dove. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Evelyn enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, quilting , genealogy, drawing and painting. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Sharlyn (David) Pullmann of McLean, VA; Marlene Broeske of Marshfield; Lavern (Kathleen) Roehl of Marshfield and Bernette (Leonard) Allemann of Abbotsford; her grandchildren Angela Keiser and Thomas Pullmann of VA, Austin Pullmann of TX; Tara Michalak of Marshall; Brian Roehl of MN; Diane Allemann of Fitchburg and Beth Heiting of Mt. Horeb; great-grandchildren and a sister Mildred Faber of Neillsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin and two brothers: Elmer and Lawrence Sanger.
