Lolly was born March 6, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Manuel and Tana Tovar. At age 11, she and her family moved to California. Early on, Lolly worked professionally as a Spanish singer and dancer of the Latin music she loved so well. While Lolly was singing the song "Tennesse Waltz,” her future husband turned to his mother and said "that is the women I'm going to marry!" On August 11, 1952 she married Leonard Schreiner in Dubuque, IA. Along with raising her family, Lolly loved teaching dance, performing in plays and providing choreography at the UW-Marshfield campus. She loved cooking and for many years provided delicious meals for hungry students at Columbus Catholic High School, Marshfield Country Club, and soup dinners at Corpus Christi Parish. Her hobbies included reading and playing cribbage with family and friends. She truly lived for her children and grandchildren and was patiently waiting the arrival of her first great grandson. Lolly was a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Bakerville and the Corpus Christi PCCW and former president of the Marshfield Deanery.
Survivors include her husband Leonard of Marshfield; her children: David Schreiner of Marshfield, Coral (Jerry) Schilling of Malone; Lisa (Arlyn) Meinders of Mason City, IA; Leonard (Lois) Schreiner of Marshfield and Todd (Tammy) Schreiner of Stratford; her grandchildren: Kelsey Schreiner, Cassandra Galsim, Jessica and Haley Sommers, Logan Schreiner and one soon to be great grandson. She is further survived by one sister, Muriel (Bud) Dresser of King City, OR and one brother, Conrad (Carole) Tovar of Seattle, WA; and special friends Shirley, Helen and Leah; many other relatives and friends.
Lolly was preceded in death by her parents.
Her family is accepting memorials to create a scholarship in Lolly’s name at the UW-Marshfield campus for music, theater and dance students.
