Daniel H. David
Age 78, of Auburndale, passed away early Friday morning, surrounded by family, March 1, 2013 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville. The Rev. John Robert Alphonse will officiate. Saint Andrew's Folk Choir will provide the music for services. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery with military rites conducted by The Stratford VFW Post 6352. Daniel’s grandchildren will serve as his active pallbearers. His honorary pallbearers will be his godchildren: Melissa Burger, Alan David, Blane David, Steve Dalum, Stephanie Daniels, Jay Schaefer and Rita Stelpflug. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5PM until 8PM at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer and again on Wednesday at the church in Rozellville from 10AM until time of services. A Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 7PM at the funeral home in Spencer on Tuesday evening.
Daniel was born April 3, 1934, son of the late Wendelin and Thecla (Youngwirth) David. After graduation from Columbus High School in Marshfield, he did carpentry work with his father. Daniel joined the Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War and continued working in the military as a recruiter for over 25 years. On July 6, 1957, he married his true love, Sylvia D. Burger at Wuerzburg Catholic Church in the town of Wien. Sadly she passed away June 22, 2011. Dan worked for Mauer Heating in Marshfield later becoming the owner and operator of Dan-D Heating in Marshfield until his retirement. .
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bowling, horseshoes and dartball. He loved spending time with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; taking them out on the boat, pontoon, yard games, etc. To those who knew him, Dan loved fun and possessed an infectious laugh.
Daniel was a member of Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council, Marshfield, Fleet Reserve Branch 234, Stratford VFW Post 6352, Marshfield American Legion Post 54, former member of both the Marshfield Curling Club and Marshfield Horseshoe Club, and a former Board Member of the Marshfield Horseshoe Club.
Suvivors include his four children: Lance (Shelley) David of Chili; Sonia (Mel) Cook of Stratford; Sheila (Bill) Kuchenbecker of Verona; Denise (Mike) Riehle of Auburndale; ten grandchildren: Tava (Chris) Kildahl; Kiri and Aleena Cook; Brianna, Ross, Mason, Garett and Jader Kuchenbecker; Nicole (Doug) Forst and Tina Riehle; four great grandchildren: Lillyan and Conner Kildahl, Trevor and Maci Forst. Daniel is further survived by two sisters: Rosemary (Gene) Heggelund of Marshfield and Carol (John) Berg of Marshfield; two brothers: Willis (Jean) David of Marshfield and Wendelin (Dianne) David, Jr. of Marshfield; two sisters-in-law: Theresa David and Joan David along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, shipmates and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sylvia, two sisters: Sylvaria Drews and Cecilia Trowbridge; and two brothers: Jerry and Jack David.
The family extends a special “Thank You” to the physicians and staff on 4th Floor Palliative Care at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital.
