Obituary of Evelyn E. Poehnelt

Evelyn E. Poehnelt (nee Doberstein) Age 84, of Marshfield, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield with family by her side and under the care of Asera Care Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. The Rev. Daniel Hackel will officiate. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4PM until 8PM at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer and again on Tuesday at the church in Dorchester from 10AM until time of services. A rosary service will be conducted at 7PM on Monday at the funeral home in Spencer. Acting as pallbearers will be Scott, Marc and Eric Poehnelt, Chris and Stephen Onsager, and James Horacek. Evelyn was born on January 3, 1929 in Langlade County, Wisconsin to the late Julius and Ruth (Potter) Doberstein. Her education included Taylor County Normal School, Medford Public Schools later attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in teaching. On September 11, 1948 she married John Stephen “Dutch” Poehnelt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. Sadly, Dutch passed away December 16, 1970. She is survived by five sons: John (Elizabeth) Poehnelt of Willard; James (Terese) Poehnelt of Sun Prairie; Richard Poehnelt of Willard; Donald (Karen) Poehnelt of West Bend; Bruce (Cynthia) Poehnelt of Pittsville; two daughters: Evelyn (Michael) Onsager of Wisconsin Rapids and Mary (Dennis) Haasl of Arpin; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Evelyn is further survived by one sister Janet (Lenny) Langteau of Chippewa Falls and three brothers: Russell (Shirley) Doberstein of Owen; Jamie (Nancy) Doberstein of Medford and David (Betsy) Doberstein of Rib Lake. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: Ruth and Julius Doberstein, her husband Dutch; a son Stephen Poehnelt; a grandson Bruce Allen Poehnelt and a special friend Frank Johnas.
