Obituary of Margaret L. Sawdy

Margaret Louise Sawdy Age 86, of Marshfield, passed away April 3, 2013 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Spencer. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at the funeral home in Spencer from 11AM until the time of services. A private committal service will take place at a later date. Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Spencer is assisting the family. Margaret was born June 17, 1926 in the Township of Kronenwetter near Mosinee, the daughter of the late Prentice Eugene Niles and Olive Pearl (Farnham) Niles. Margaret grew up in Kronenwetter where she attended country school. On March 28, 1943, she married Walter Gustav Tank. After 28 years of marriage, Walter and Margaret were divorced. On May 30, 1981, Margaret married "the love of her life" - Ed Sawdy. He was diagnosed with cancer and died on her birthday, June 17, 1983. Margaret met Elmer Haselow, and they were married in 1998. Sadly, Elmer passed away on December 11, 2006. Hobbies she enjoyed were singing in the Sweet Adelines group of Marshfield and her church choir. A self-taught organist, she played for her church in Mayville and then in Horicon. She loved to volunteer her music talent whenever possible playing at local nursing homes and organizations. Other hobbies she enjoyed were gardening, bird watching, crossword puzzles, knitting and reading. She was an active member of the Veterans Auxiliary of Tomahawk. Margaret is survived by her brothers: Donald Herbert Niles of Wyoming and Alfred Neal Niles of Shawno, her children: Karmyn (Chuck) Hardinger of Marshfield; Linda (Gene) Lind of Port Orchard, Washington; and Amy (Mike) Rechek of Brownsville, her step children: Duane “Duke” (Nancy) Haselow of Thorp; Douglas Haselow of Menomonee Falls; Dr. Robert (Justine) Haselow of Edino, MN; Linda (Al) Dallman of Greenwood and Maryanne Haselow-Dulin. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Laura (Josh) Lingford of Arpin, Rebecca (Rod) Herman of Marshfield; Eric (Chume) Tank of San Antonio, Texas; Robert Tank of Fond Du Lac; Heather (Brit) Brockhage of Breckenridge, Iowa; Laura (Eric) Krieger of Bloomington, MN ; Danny Lind of Rosemount, MN; Jesse Ryder of Oshkosh; Benjamin Ryder of Milwaukee and Christa Ryder of Madison, 14 great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren and 36 step-great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: Prentice Eugene Niles and Olive Pearl (Farnham) Niles; her grandparents: Ida Louella Cowles, Charles Weldan Farnham, Rachel Jane Rose and Stillman Niles; her husbands: Walter Tank; Ed Sawdy and Elmer Haselow; a son: Duane Tank; a step-son: Chuck Haselow; a step-daughter: Win Heller; three sisters: Ruth Pearl Niles-Klein; Mildred Evelyn Niles-Tessmer and Ethel Bertha Niles-Severance; four brothers: Elmer Charles Niles; Ralph Allen Niles; Prentice George Niles and David Richard Niles.
