Herbert J. Steinwagner
Age 86, of Unity, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at House of The Dove in Marshfield. His care was provided by Ministry Home Care Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. The Rev. Chris A. Schwanz will officiate. Committal services will take place at a later date in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Marshfield. Visitation will be held Monday from 4PM until 8PM at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer and on Tuesday at the church in Marshfield from 9:30AM until time of services. Acting as pallbearers will be his grandsons Mike and Joe Steinwagner and his nephews: Dennie and Rick Durst, Scott Bruesewitz and Glen Luchterhand. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Durst, Jerry Tuchscher and Ed Woald.
Herbert was July 18, 1926 in Marshfield to Joseph and Adelaide (Miller) Steinwagner. He attended Shady Lane School in the town of Lincoln and St. John’s Parochial School in Marshfield. On June 11, 1949 he married the former Bertha Ann Bruesewitz. Herb and his wife farmed for a short time in Chili. He also worked for Bloom Box Factory Peterson Construction Company, Pathfinder Homes and Wick Homes.
Hobbies included fishing, hunting and some small game hunting. Herbert enjoyed working with his hands as a skilled carpenter and also in his gardens.
Herb was a member of the Local Carpenter’s Union, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, the International Wood Workers of America and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 64 years Bertha Steinwagner of Unity; his children: Ronald (Tammy) Steinwagner of Rockford, MI; Richard Steinwagner of Colby; Robert Steinwagner of Unity; and Randall Steinwagner of Unity; his grandchildren: Mike (Cindy) Steinwagner of Rockford, MI; Joseph Steinwagner of Marshfield; a step grand daughter Rose of Fort Lewis Washington; a sister Loretta Tuchscher along with many nieces, nephews friends and a special devoted canine companion “Butch”
He has been greeted in heaven by his parents, a son Russel, three sisters and three brothers.
