Peggy A. Matson, Age 61, of Withee, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. A memorial service for Peggy will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Bonnie Cain will officiate. A committal service will be held at a later date. Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Service-Spencer is assisting the family. Peggy was born February 12, 1952 in Marshfield, the daughter of Alfred and Elaine “Vila” (Anderson) Gehrke. Her education included grade school in Gurney, Il and after returning to the area graduated from Owen-Withee High School. She was married to Ronald R. Matson on March 14, 1970 at Longwood Lutheran Church. He survives. Together they resided in Owen area, Stetsonville, Perkinstown and lastly in Longwood. She was employed as a cook at Abbey Café in Abbotsford, at the local root beer stand, and as a weigh master for Yahara Construction Co. during some road construction in the Abbotsford area. Hobbies included camping, fishing, riding motorcycles and working in her flower beds. Her greatest love was spending time with family. Survivors include her husband Ronald Matson of Withee, her father Alfred Gehrke of Owen; two sons: Fred Matson of Withee and Greg Matson of Longwood along with other relatives and friends.
