Virginia M. “Ginny” Henderson,
Age 86 of Spencer, formerly of Wausau, passed away July 26, 2013 at the Marshfield Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia and her husband James will be held at 12noon on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. The Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Entombment for both will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Friends may call on Monday at the church in Marshfield from 9AM until time of services.
Arrangements are entrusted to Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Services-Spencer.
Virginia was born November 7, 1926 in Shawno, WI near Markton daughter of John and Susie (Stark) Alft. She attended a small country school later graduating from White Lake High School. After high school, she continued to help on the family farm and was a CNA working at Wausau Hospital. On June 9, 1946 she married her “one and only” her husband James Henderson at Saint James Catholic Church in White Lake, WI. Virginia and Jim resided in Wausau for many years during which time she was employed for over 37 years at Marathon Electric Motors. Virginia also helped with Jim’s photography studio which they owned and operated.
Ginny and her husband Jim were inseparable, her hobbies and pastimes were Jim’s hobbies and pastimes and they included bowling, fishing and hunting, going to the casino, watching sports games together, sometimes cheering for the Packers and sometimes cheering for the Vikings, camping and spending time with their extended camping families while at Currie Lake and Mayflower Lake.
She was a member of Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield and was very active in both the Wausau Jaycees and Wausau Stunt Night.
Survivors include her children: Patricia (Joe) Spinler, Jr of Spencer and John (Joanne) Henderson of Hartford; one sister Florence Sponholtz of Tisch Mills, WI;
10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, along with many extended family members, other relatives and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James who passed away July 5, 2013; eight sisters and two brothers.
