Mary V. Banie
Age 63, of Edgar, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Wausau Manor under the care of AseraCare Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will officiate. A committal service will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on Friday at the church in Edgar from 9AM until time of services. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Knoeck, Brad Heil, Richard Volhard, Caden, Colin and Christian Untiedt.
Arrangements are entrusted to Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
Mary was born October 11, 1949 in Wausau, the daughter of Delbert and Dorothy (Kurtzweil) Rasmussen of Edgar. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from Edgar High School. She resided in Wausau for a period of time where she was employed at Citizens Bank in Wausau until relocating in Alaska. Later, Mary returned to the Edgar area and began work in the Ginseng Garden and also at Stark's Floral both located in Edgar.
Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, crocheting and cross stitching. Mary was an avid Badger and Brewer fan. For those that knew Mary, she was all about family, her son and his family, her nieces and nephews, and her great nieces and great nephews-all were at the center of her life and she loved spending time and creating memories.
Mary was a member of Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son Shawn (Schauna) Rasmussen of Mount Horeb;
two grandchildren: Logan and Laila; two sisters: Nancy (Donald) Volhard of Weston and Joanne (Roger) Heil of Marathon; two brothers: Roger (Jean) Rasmussen of Marathon and Russell (Brenda) Rasmussen of Merrill. Mary is further survived by many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
