Obituary of Lois M. Worchel

Lois M. Worchel Age 84, of Spencer, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. David M. DePaoli will officiate. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Brighton. Visitation will be held at the church in Spencer from 9:30AM until time of services. Acting as pallbearers will be Derek Miner, Everett Mueller, Greg Gronski, Jr., Richard Theune, Jeron Gronski, and Loren Theune. Arrangements are entrusted to Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer. Lois was born July 14, 1929 in Loyal, the daughter of John and Anna (nee Zuege) Habhegger. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1947 as class valedictorian. After completing her education, she worked at Citizen’s State Bank, Loyal and Granton station.She married Carl G. Worchel on June 7, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. They farmed in the town of Sherman until 1968 when they moved to Spencer. Lois then worked at the Spencer State Bank for 30 years, retiring as head teller in 1998. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for many years, served in the Ladies’ Aid, and worked at the Bethesda Thrift Store in Wausau. She volunteered as a reading tutor for 2nd graders at school and helped at the Spencer Food Pantry. Lois loved gardening and sharing the harvest with neighbors and family. Lois is lovingly survived by one daughter: Margaret (Greg) Gronski of Pittsville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Derek Miner, Jeff (Robin) Gronski; Carmen (Everett Mueller) Richardson; Greg (Amy) Gronski, Jr.; Kara (Richard) Theune; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister: Catherine Kronberger of Loyal; two nephews: Robert Kronberger and Jerry Worchel and one niece: Judy Forcier. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl in 1998, two brothers-in-law: La Verne Kronberger and Harold Worchel; a sister-in-law, Florence Worchel and a niece, Joyce Golba. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Lois’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, Lutheran Hour Ministries, or the House of the Dove, Marshfield.
