Paul A. Borchardt
Age 72, of Spencer, passed away September 3, 2013 at his residence with family at his side. Care for Paul and his family provided by Ministry Home Care Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. David M. DePaoli will officiate. Military Honors will follow immediately after the service. The committal service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Town of Wien, Marathon County. Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church in Spencer from 9:30AM until time of services

Paul was born October 17, 1940 in the town of Wien, Marathon County, the son of Harold and Eva (Kurth) Borchardt. He attended Edgar Public Schools, after graduation he served in the US Army stationed in Korea. Following his discharge he was employed for 10 years at Trees for Tomorrow Camp in Eagle River as a cook. Paul moved back to the area to take over care for the family farm.
On April 9, 1983 Paul married Diane C. Oliver at Bad Axe Lutheran Church in Rural Viroqua. He farmed for five years then sold the farm and moved to Spencer where he worked for Modern Insulation, Inc. for over 18 years, retiring due to ill health.
Hobbies included woodworking, cooking and baking bread. He also had a meat cutting wagon built while farming and supplemented his income by cutting meat for others.
Survivors include his wife Diane of Spencer; one son Luke Borchardt of Minneapolis, MN; three step-sons: Ken German of Wausau; Kirt (Elisabeth) German of Fort Hood, TX and Kevin German of Neillsville; three step-grandsons: Blake, David and Robert; one brother Tim (Mindy) Borchardt of Stevens Point; one sister Faye Weiner of Eau Claire; 5 nieces and many other relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: David and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Paul’s name.
