Obituary of Michael L. Metz

Michael L. “Mike” Metz Age 63, of Marshfield, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 with his loving and supportive family surrounding him while at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Alban Ministry Center, 1413 South Felker Avenue in Marshfield. His family and countless dear friends are invited to gather in his memory on saturday at the Ministry Center in Marshfield from 2PM until 4PM with eulogies beginning at 4PM. Private committal services will be held later. Michael Lee Metz was born in Marshfield on January 26, 1953 the son of Howard and Beatrice (Bucholtz) Metz, Sr. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High later moving to Hudson and working at a nursing home as a CNA. While working in Hudson Mike met Heidi Clayton and they were later married on July 14, 1995 at Wildwood Park. Mike worked as a meat cutter for both Karau’s Grocery Store and Festival Foods in Marshfield, for Norwood Health Care as a CNA and as a warehouse manager for Wesco Distribution in Spencer. For those who knew him, Mike was all about helping others and being involved whether it was with his family, his siblings, being a scout master or coaching youth football and baseball. Mike prided himself with being a true role model, a true grill master for family picnics and at Hub City Day’s Grilling Competition, a true supporter of sporting events at Marshfield Senior High, and possessing an endless love for those high school kids and they in turn loved him. Mike enjoyed his hunting and the outdoors in general, always staying positive even when he was quietly suffering with health issues. And finally, Mike will be remembered with the gut wrenching episodes of laughter shared with his family, siblings and friends. He will be missed. Survivors include his wife Heidi Metz of Marshfield and their two sons: Clayton Metz and Mason Metz both of Marshfield; two daughters: Anne Metz of MN and Alana Metz of MN and a son Ara Metz of Hudson; his mother-in-law Helen (Lyle) Carlson and father-in-law Louie (Phoebe) Clayton; his siblings, Nancy (Chuck) Partin, Peggy Metz, Mary (Tom) Kavanagh, Kathy (Gary) Schweikl, Steve Metz, Philip Metz, Greg (Cindy) Metz and Paul Metz along with many other relatives and friends and supporters. Mike is further survived by his trusted canine companion “Maggie”.
