Thomas E. Fuller Age 83, of Marshfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield. His funeral service will be held at 6:30PM on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday at the funeral home from 4PM until time of services. Committal services with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield will take place on Tuesday at 11AM in Brooklawn Memorial Gardens. Thomas Ellsworth Fuller was born on April 13, 1933 in Bonners Ferry, ID the son of Elmer Ellsworth Fuller and Thelma Louise Rohlf. Thomas joined the United States Navy at the beginning of the Korean War. He served on several naval vessels such as the USS Tichonderoga, the USS Currituck, and the USS Gurke. When Tom was stationed in Bremerton, WA he met and married his first wife Yvonne Crateau and to this union five children were born. They later divorced. Tom was also stationed in Korea, Hawaii, Oregon, San Diego and finally at Great Lakes Naval Station located in Great Lakes, IL where he retired after 20 years of military service as a commissaryman. Thomas was promoted to Chief Commissaryman while at Great Lakes Naval Station in charge of Great Lakes Galley 928 which is the Navy’s largest galley. Tom faithfully served more than 12,000 recruits during the summer months and over 1700 sailors at one time. After his retirement from the Navy in 1969 as a Chief Petty Officer, Thomas owned and operated a dairy farm in Weyawega later owning and operating a popular restaurant in Almond called “The Cook Shanty”. After his marriage to Gladys Cox Kromanaker on November 18, 1989 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield they continued to reside in Marshfield. Thomas was an interesting, compassionate, friendly and loved the tradition of creamed toast which was started by his mother. He loved attending and supporting his two youngest children Dean and Kerry's sporting events. Hobbies included traveling in their RV going out West to visit his family, wintering in Bushnell, FL or maybe just taking a weekend camping trip to a favorite destination with the Good Sam’s Camping Club. Other pastimes included going square dancing with their friends, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and meeting up with the gang for 6AM coffee at Hardee’s in Marshfield. Out of respect to her father,his daughter Vicki will carry on the tradition of always having one cat named "Sammy" Survivors include his wife Gladys of Marshfield; his five children: Thomas Fuller, Jr of Spokane, WA, Vicki (Mike) Powell of Spokane, WA, Joey Fuller of Salt Lake City, UT, Dean Fuller of Folsom, CA and Kerry (Bob) Deahl of Puyallup,WA; his four step children: Ken (Pat) Kromanaker of Marshfield, Julie (Bill) Beres of Pewaukee, Steve (Sue) Kromanaker of Kissimmee, FL and Tony (Jayne) Kromanaker of Greenville; his grandchildren: Cara Harrington, Averie Powell, Michael Daniel (Sarah) Powell, Jordan Powell, Isaac Fuller, Nayumi Fuller, Grant Fuller, John Fuller, Christy (Stephen) Weggelaar and Bobby, Kaitlynn, Ariel and Grace Fuller; his step grandchildren: Jordan and Luke Kromanaker, Elizabeth, Nick and Sam Beres, Steven and Jake Kromanaker, Ben and Rachel Kromanaker and his seven great grandchildren. Thomas is further survived by a sister Deanna Smith of Lewiston, ID along with other relatives, friends, comrades and coffee drinking buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Barbara and three brothers: Donald, Chester and Bryan.
