Obituary of Joyce A. Serwe

Joyce A. Serwe Age 78, of Stratford, passed away at Ministry Saint Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, in the early morning hours on Thursday, February 27, 2014 while surrounded by her family. In accordance with Mrs. Serwe’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. Joyce was born in Marshfield on May 28, 1935, the daughter of Walter and Frieda (Bartelt) Telschow. She attended both Stratford Elementary and Stratford High School. Shortly after, she was married to John B. Serwe in Indiana on August 9, 1952. He survives. Joyce was a dedicated farm wife and mother. She and John owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Eau Pleine, while raising and providing for their 12 children. Hobbies included cooking and baking. Each and every Christmas holiday, it was not uncommon for Joyce to bake, frost, and decorate over 300 dozen cookies. Joyce had an infinite amount of love that she shared freely with her husband, John, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed. Survivors include her husband of over 61 years, John Serwe, of Stratford, twelve children: Barthol (Debra) Serwe, Mary Felten, Joe Serwe, LuAnn (Dave) Geldernick, Cheairee (Lee) Schwanebeck, John (Christine) Serwe, Alice (Paul) Metz, Rose (Mike) Weigel, Helen (Gary) Szymanski, Matt Serwe, Barb (Bryan) Karlen and Pierre (Kari) Serwe; 27 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet (Don) Clickner, along with many other relatives and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Carl Marquardt, one brother, Eugene, and her son-in-law, Terry Felten. Arrangements are entrusted to Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
