Victor R. Ritter
Age 83, of Unity, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday morning, November 14, 2013 at House of the Dove in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. The Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman will officiate. Committal services will be held privately at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11AM until time of services.
Victor was born August 12, 1930 in Arpin, son of the late Paul and Alice (Adam) Ritter. The family moved to the Owen-Withee area where Victor attended school. After that he worked alongside his father helping him to provide for and support the family. On June 23, 1972 he married the former Eileen Hofmann in Neillsville. She survives. Vic worked various jobs in the area later retiring in 1980 from ArtCraft Homes, a division of Wick Building Systems in Spencer.
Hobbies included fishing, hunting and watching the birds at his feeders. Victor enjoyed wood working and creating beautiful crafts. Along with his wife Eileen, they attended many a craft show all over the state. He loved both his flower and vegetable gardens and took great pride in maintaining them for others to enjoy. When needed, Vic was a babysitter for his wonderful grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Eileen of Unity; his children: Cheryl (Kevin) Kloehn of Richland Center, Cindy (Dan) Dahl of Abbotsford, Sandy (Rodney) Hendricks of Gilman, Shelia (Dennis) Bakke of Owen, Clark Ritter and Kathy Theurs of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters: Alice Bender of Owen, Alfreida (Troy) Austin of Abbotsford and Pearl Darge of Spencer along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Victor was preceded in death by two sisters: Pauline McRay and Viola Wittmore and six brothers: Gordon, Paul, Glen, Allen, Merlin and Arlyn Ritter.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Cindy Dahl, Brooke Krause and Jayne Frahman and the rest of the family for the in-home care and compassion they provided to Victor over the last 4 years, also to Dr. Van Oudenhoven and his nurse coordinator Kim for their for the medical care of Victor and to the staff at House of the Dove for their commitment and comfort measures provided to Victor.
