Raymond Frank Holtzheimer, age 86, of Curtiss went to meet our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Clark County Health Care Center under the care of Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., surrounded by his loved ones. All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Ray’s life at 11AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will officiate. Committal services in the Colby Memorial Cemetery will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday at the church in Owen from 9:30AM until the time of service. Military honors will follow immediately after the services at the church. Raymond was born on May 29, 1930 in New Munster, WI to the late Clarence and Anna Holtzheimer. He lived most of his childhood in Lyons, WI where he went to school at St. Anthony’s. He served his county in the United States Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956. Raymond was united in marriage to Suzanne Markham on September 17, 1966 in Elkhorn. In his adult life he worked as a heavy equipment operator, factory worker and grounds keeper at Clark County Health Care Center, but his true passion was farming. Ray enjoyed his years spent aiding the local Mennonites, who became his dearest friends. His friends and family remember him as a kind, hardworking and generous man. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen and the Curtiss Lions club. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne; three children, Jannie (Eric) Phillips of North Carolina, Daniel (Sherry) Holtzheimer of Curtiss and David (Marsha) Holtzheimer of Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren: Kerri (Mark) Katzenberger, Joshua (Ashley) Upthagrove, Tyler (Dana) Holtzheimer, Daniel Jr (Kristina) Holtzheimer, Darrin (Ashley) Holtzheimer, Brittany (Kyle) Holtzheimer, Kelsey (Corey) Peterson, Rachel Rohland, Karissa (Derrick) Holtzheimer, Savanah Nehls, Petey Nehls and Julie Phillips; four great grandchildren: Raymond Nagorski, Katrina Upthagrove, Jameson Berger and Laiden Holtzheimer. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, his seven brothers and sisters, his daughter Julie Holtzheimer and his daughter-in-law Waunda Erikson-Holtzheimer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Wounded Warrior Project. The family would like to thank the staff of CCHCC for of all effort and kindness that they put into caring for Ray.
