John S. Sweeten, age 97 of Marshfield, entered eternal life Friday, December 30, 2016 with his family by his side at Golden Living Three Oaks under the care of Asera Care Hospice.
A private family service is scheduled.
John Samuel Sweeten was born October 25, 1919 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Samuel and Mary (Morris) Sweeten. He graduated from Audubon High School in New Jersey. On May 29, 1948 in Camden County, New Jersey he was united in marriage to Marian K. Goldy. Sadly, Marian passed away on April 11, 2013.
John served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Following the war, he was stationed at Quantico, VA until his retirement from service. He earned his certification as a public accountant and retired from CPA work in 1982. Following his retirement, he and Marian moved to Unity, Wisconsin.
His hobbies included wood working, carpentry and sports. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He cherished the time he spent with his family.
He is lovingly survived by his two daughters: Lois Vesbach of Loyal and Debra (Thomas) Stachowicz of Spencer; two sisters-in-law: Marie Sweeten of Arizona and Marian Goldy of New Jersey; seven grandchildren: Lisa (John) Fellenz, Jacob (Jodi) Stachowicz, Michael Santo, Meredith Santo, Stephanie (Isaac) Weichelt, Andrew Stachowicz, Brian Stachowicz and 14 great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son-in-law Thomas Vesbach and his two brothers and four sisters.
