Arnold H. Mellenthin,
Age 85, of Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Atrium Post-Acute Care in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Music will be provided by Gigi Plautz playing for the St. John’s Funeral Choir. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of service. The honor of pallbearers belongs to Jean Jantz, Sue Korpowski, David Mellenthin and Shirley Fischer.
Arnold was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on June 21, 1931 to Otto and Mary (Itzen) Mellenthin. He graduated from Spencer High School. Arnold was united in marriage to Lucille Fischer at Our Lady of Peace in Marshfield on June 10, 1952. Sadly, Lucille passed away on October 6, 2016. In June of 2016 Arnold and Lucille celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Arnold was employed at Clover Creamery, retiring in 1997. His hobbies included his love of building through wood working, bowling, watching Western movies, dancing and listening to Polka and Country Music. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Arnold was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield.
He is survived by his three children: Jean (Paul) Jantz of River Falls, Sue (Pete) Korpowski of Stevens Point and David (Alicia) Mellenthin of Marion, IA; his two sisters-in-law: Shirley Fischer of Rice, MN and Betty Wills of Marshfield; his five grandchildren: Jodi (Chris) Branum, Tara (Les) Kattre, Kendra (Chris) Hensler, Ashley Mellenthin and Cecliy Mellethin and his four great-grandchildren: Anna Branum, Nick Branum, Susan Kattre and Jeffry Kattre along with many other relatives and friends.
Arnold was preceded in death by his wife Lucille; his parents; his brother Ken Mellenthin; his two sisters-in-law: Arlene Croell and MaryJo Weinfurtner and his two brothers-in-law Glen and Larry Fischer.
