They moved to Kansas City, MO in 1940 where Kenny graduated from North Kansas City High School 1956. In 1960, Kenny graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Husbandry from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. After graduation, Kenny attended graduate school at the University of Missouri studying Animal Breeding before entering the College of Veterinary Medicine also at the University of Missouri. Kenny graduated in 1965 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He met his wife, Sally Heyerdale while in Columbia and they were married August 4, 1961 in New Orleans, LA. Upon graduation, Kenny practiced in Huntley, IL for one year before moving to Seattle, WA and practicing in a small animal practice. In March 1970, he returned to Huntley to once again practice large animal veterinary services. While in Illinois, Kenny learned of a large animal veterinarian in central Wisconsin who was looking for a partner. After meeting Dr. Marvin Rohm, Kenny moved his family to Sherry, WI and was co-owner of Bovis Veterinary Service, LTD, originally located in Rudolph and then in Auburndale. For several years in the 1970s he was also a partner in a veterinary practice on Grand Cayman Island. Kenny took great pride in his practices and truly relished the friends that he made over the years. After retirement from veterinary medicine in July 1998, Kenny worked at Tire Technologies, Inc. for a year and then obtained a commercial drivers license allowing him to move tractors around, mostly to Texas, for DeBoer, Inc. Kenny was working for Mid-State Truck delivering parts for several years before leaving the work force entirely. Driving around the countryside and visiting with people were some of Kenny’s favorite things to do. He tried to make a new friend every day and to keep every old friend. Kenny was a member of Lions International for 48 years, first joining Queen Anne-Magnolia Lions in Seattle, followed by the clubs in Huntley, IL, and Auburndale, WI. During his years in the Lions Club, Kenny held most club offices and many positions on the Lions District 27 C-1 Cabinet. In April 1987, Kenny was the recipient of the prestigious Lions award, Melvin Jones Fellowship. Kenny was also a member of the Marshfield Elks Lodge 665 for over 25 years. He was a Sherry Volunteer Fireman and served on the Blenker-Sherry Sanitary Sewer District Board. Kenny was a lifetime member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association along with being a member of the American Association Bovine Practitioners, National Mastitis Council, and Washington, Northern Illinois, and Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Associations. An avid football fan, he enjoyed watching his Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers on TV and attending Wisconsin Badger games. Kenny also was the football announcer for the Auburndale Apache football teams for many years while his sons played. Kenny enjoyed bowling and loved a good golf game. Above all, he was proud to be a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was very proud of his children and adored his grand-daughters. Memorials may be made in Kenny’s name to the Wisconsin Lions Camp, 3834 County A, Rosholt, WI 54473 or the Elks Scholarship Fund, 113 East 2nd Street, Marshfield, WI 54449.
