Kenneth L. Kenyon

Age 76, passed away at his residence in Spencer on Saturday, April 22, 2017 with his loving family at the bedside.

His memorial service will be held at 3PM on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Spencer with Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiating. Following the service military rites conducted by American Legion Post 175 of Loyal will be held. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at the church from 1PM until time of services. Committal services will take place at a later time.

Ken was born September 28, 1940 in Spencer to Lester and Dorothy (Fravert) Kenyon. After graduating from Spencer High School, he worked for a time at Engel’s Mink Farm and later at Land O Lakes in Spencer. Ken was drafted into the United States Army and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. On September 10, 1966, he married the former Theresa Youngs at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. After his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to Spencer and his work at Land O Lakes until his retirement in 2002.

His hobbies included bowling, gardening, camping and ice fishing. He especially enjoyed just being outside whether it was cutting lawn, raking or just sitting in his favorite lawn chair enjoying his cherry tobacco flavored pipe. Most of all Ken loved being with his children, his grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include his wife Theresa of Spencer; his children: Cheryl (Terry) Gallion of Loyal, Nancy (Thomas) Cook of Appleton and Brenda (William) Gardner of Kiel; his grandchildren: Tanya, Kay, Brittney, Wesley, Carson, Grant, Cody, Makayla, Blake and Sierra; his great grandchildren: Dylan, Jackson, Parker, Leyla, Brayden, Bentley, Ryssa and Garrett. Ken is further survived by one sister Judy (David) Hederer of Spencer along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Sharon Kenyon and his canine companion “Molly”.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Ministry Home Care Hospice for the support and care shown to Ken and to his family.
