Obituary of Jerrold R. Griepentrog

Jerrold R. “Jerry” Griepentrog, age 75, of Spencer, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

His funeral service will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at the church from 2:30 until the time of service. Committal services will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery on Hwy 13 North of Spencer. Family and friends are welcome to share a meal with the family in remembrance of Jerry’s life at Spencer Lions Park.

Jerry was born on June 26, 1941 to Raymond and Anita (Schwantes) Griepentrog in Spencer. Jerry was united in marriage to Sandra Carol Stephens on February 14, 1959, to this union three children were born.

He worked many years at the Farmer’s Coop in Spencer before purchasing the family farm. Jerry greatly enjoyed farming. In 1999, he sold the cows and drove bus for Burnett Bus Service for 10 years. Jerry was a longtime member of the Spencer Volunteer Fire Department and also responded to ambulance calls. He was an active church member throughout his life.

Jerry is survived by his wife Sandra; his son David (Ila) Griepentrog of Ambler, AK; his daughters: Debra (Thomas) Schafer of Spencer and Danel (Mark) Henseler of Marshfield; his eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren : Nicholas (Julie) Griepentrog  and sons Ben and Nate of Star Prairie; Jeremiah Hensler and daughter Hope and son Rylan of Marshfield; Heather (Lucas) Hahn and sons Blake, Caden, Connor and daughter Ellie of Neillsville; Rebecca (James) Davis and son Evan of Chippewa Falls; Jason (Ashley) Schafer and son Owen and daughter Lilah; Clarence, Jerrold and Anita Griepentrog of Ambler, AK. He is further survived by his three step-grandchildren and his six step- great-grandchildren of Ambler, AK; and his sister Shirley (Kenneth) Hemenway of Sheboygan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond “Stubs” and Anita Griepentrog and great grandchild Josiah Clarence Griepentrog.
