Adelaide G. Schara,
Age 103, of Wausau formerly of Marathon, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 surrounded by her family at Wausau Manor while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice Services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Halder. The Rev. Felix Tigoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to David Schara, Brett Koeller, Chad Schara, Jeff Schara, Tom Schara and Larry Lang.
Adelaide was born at home in rural Marathon on February 20, 1914 the daughter of Louis and Mary (Heil) Karlen. She attended Marathon Catholic School. Adelaide was united in marriage to William Schara on June 23, 1937. Sadly William passed away on September 25, 1984.
Adelaide was a wonderful homemaker and an awesome baker, especially her chocolate chip cookies and homemade bread. She liked to embroider, crochet and read the newspaper from beginning to end. She enjoyed working in many ginseng gardens in the area. Adelaide loved spending time with her family and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her five children: Ken (Joyce) Schara of Edgar, Jerome (Evelyn) Schara of Marathon, Marvin (Kay) Schara of Marathon, Duane (Judy) Schara of Marathon and Carol (Roger) Nowak of Edgar; her 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Jeanette Karlen of Stevens Point along with many other relatives and friends.
Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her three grandchildren, her sister, her five brothers and her daughter-in-law Joan Schara.
