Bud was born August 24, 1926 in the Town of Holton, the son of George and Florence (Gurney) Tischendorf, Sr.  Early on he worked on his parent’s dairy farm until being drafted into the United States Navy during World War II serving as a mess hall cook.  At times, he was responsible for feeding over 3000 German prisoners as well as his own comrades.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Bud continued his duty to serve his country by being drafted a second time into the United States Army during the Korean War and was and was assigned to an artillery unit until his second honorable discharge.  On June 10, 1961, Bud was united in marriage to Betty Lou Pals in the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. They celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on June 10, 2017. Bud retired in 1992 after almost 30 years of employment at Liberty Homes in Dorchester.

He was a longtime member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester.

His hobbies included tending to his garden, carpentry work and fishing.  Bud enjoyed watching the birds in his back yard or reading his favorite book on UFO’s or on nature.

Survivors include his wife Betty Tischendorf of Abbotsford; his daughter Deb (Clarence) Zarnke of Curtiss; a sister Mary Dampier of Janesville; a sister-in-law Cathy Tischendorf of Dorchester along with other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Bud is further survived by his canine companion “Ginger”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Tischendorf, his sister Dorothy Konecny, two brothers-in-law: Joseph Konecny and Charles Dampier and two nephews: Brad Dampier and Rick Konecny.
