Obituary of Bertha A. Steinwagner
Bertha A. “Betty” Steinwagner,
Age 87, of Unity, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Colonial Center in Colby under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Her funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4PM until 7PM at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer and on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at the church in Marshfield. The Colby VFW Auxiliary 2227, will hold a memorial service at 6:30PM on Monday at the funeral home. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her grandsons Michael and Joseph Steinwagner and her nephews Dennis, Rick and Randy Durst and Jerry Tuchscher. Honorary pallbearers will be her daughter-in-law Carole Stangl, and her nieces Tammy Pickhard and Phyllis Schneider.
Bertha was born September 17, 1929 in Marshfield to Frederick and Nelly (Stowell) Bruesewitz. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1947. On June 11, 1949 she was united in marriage to Herbert Steinwagner. Sadly after 64 years of marriage, Herb passed away in June of 2013. Bertha and Herb farmed for a short time in Chili. She was later employed at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for over 28 years as a nurse’s aide, retiring in 1994.
Her hobbies included gardening, tending to her flower beds, knitting and crocheting. Bertha entered several of her knitting and crocheting creations into the Marshfield Fair, winning 1st prize and best of show. Bertha was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield and the Colby VFW Auxiliary 2227.
She is survived by her children: Ronald (Tammy) Steinwagner of Rockford, MI; Richard Steinwagner of Colby; Robert Steinwagner of Unity and Randall Steinwagner of Unity; her grandchildren: Mike (Cindy) Steinwagner of Rockford, MI; Joseph Steinwagner of Marshfield; her step-granddaughter Rose of Fort Lewis, WA; her brother Frederick (Ruth) Bruesewitz of Richfield and her sister-in-law Geraldine Steinwagner along with many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
She has been greeted in heaven by her parents, her husband Herbert, her son Russel, and her great-granddaughter Michelle.
