Obituary of Scott J. Freeman
Scott J. Freeman,
Age 67, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at his residence in Spencer.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 4PM until 6PM at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Military rites conducted by American Legion Post 298 of Spencer will be held at 6PM at the funeral home. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Scott was born in Marshfield, on July 24, 1950, the son of Russell and Grace (Dishinger) Freeman. He graduated from Spencer High School. Scott proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Scott was married to Dawn Simonton in 1974, they divorced in 2001. Scott was employed as a welder at Felker Brothers in Marshfield and later as a maintenance and shop welder for Advance Concrete in Spencer.
Most of all Scott loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren, especially at the family cabin. Scott always took time to teach his children and grandchildren to enjoy the outdoors along with fishing, hunting, four wheeling, swimming, and appreciating the wildlife around them. He enjoyed watching his family‘s involvement in demolition derbies. Scott always had a project he was working on whether it be building his dream car-the famous 1968 Camaro with his son-in-law, Scott, or creating wood art designs out of Diamond Willow trees. He enjoyed his hot rod cars and the thrill of going fast. Scott was a great storyteller and enjoyed making those around him laugh.
Scott will be greatly missed by his daughters: Sara (Scott) Krause of Stratford and Melissa (Rick) Meyer of Weston; his former wife Dawn Freeman of Spencer; his sister Susan (David) Shupe of Spencer; his four grandchildren: Logan Dennison, Cameron Krause and Anna and Elli Meyer; his sister-in-law Sue Freeman of Spencer; his faithful canine companion Boots, along with many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Grace Freeman and his brother, Mark Freeman.
