Obituary of Chester E. Lipsey

Chester E. “Chet” Lipsey,

Age 76, of Spencer, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency department at Marshfield Medical Center on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

His memorial service will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. A private committal service will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer from 10AM until the time of service.

Chet was born on August 23, 1941 in Chicago, the son of Chester and Charlotte (Igras) Lipsey. He was united in marriage to Thelma Nitsche on August 25, 1962 at St. Celestine Church in Elmwood Park, IL. Chet and Thelma moved to Spencer in April of 1972 to live the “good life” dairy farming, “ha-ha”. Chet and Thelma farmed until February of 1989. After the sale of the farm Chet worked at Berg Equipment doing tool and dye work until his retirement in 2010.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, feeding his two horses Skye and Charlie Brown, feeding and watching his birds, squirrels, chipmunks, geese and peacocks and being aggravated by his two house cats Misty and Whiskers.

Chet is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma; his daughter Christine Lipsey of Spencer and his son Michael (Tammy) Lipsey of Pulaski; his three grandchildren Jordyn, Kayla and Austin and one brother Richard (Sue) Lipsey of Rhinelander.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia Verush.
