Alan R. Mercier,

Age 50, of Marshfield formerly Colby, died Monday, July 2, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Music will be provided by Suzanne Golden as the organist along with Kris Herr as the vocalist with the Saint John’s Choir.  Committal services will be held privately at a later time.  Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer from 4PM until 7PM and at the church on Saturday from 9:30AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer will belong to Al’s son, Nathan.

Al was born on May 27, 1968 in Marshfield, the son of Albert and Dolores (Friedenfels) Mercier.  He attended Colby Public School and graduated from Colby High School. Al was united in marriage to Lora Holtman on August 29, 1992 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Colby.  He was a dedicated husband and father to his wife and their three children.  Al was employed at Kerry Ingredients in Owen.

He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield and Christ The King Catholic Church in Marshfield.

Al was a family man at heart and in practice. He was happiest spending time with Lora, the kids, and Annie; wherever that was. Special memories camping will never be forgotten; always up for a campfire. The company of friends and family meant the world to him. Al was inherently kind and generous; giving was second nature to him. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent hunting with his brothers and extended family. Al’s great sense of humor and sense of fun made him a favorite of his many nieces and nephews. His strong devotion to family has been a special blessing to all of us.

Survivors include his loving wife Lora Mercier of Marshfield; his children: Brenna, Nathan and Sadie all of Marshfield, his siblings: Rich (Holly) Mercier of Waunakee, Dave (Dawn) Mercier of Abbotsford and Lisa Mercier of Sheboygan; his mother-in-law Mary Holtman of Colby; his brother and sister-in-laws: Teri (Dennis) Schorer of Unity, Darin (Laura Schmidt) Holtman of Sparta, Danette (Steve Dake) of Medford, Carrie (Robin) Geissler of Tilden, Lana (Marlen) Weisenberger of Mosinee and Donny (Jessica) Holtman of Medford; other nieces and nephews, many friends and his trusted canine companion lab “Annie”.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Dolly Mercier, his sister Elaine Bruesewitz, his father-in-law Terry Holtman and a brother-in-law Dale Holtman.

If desired, memorials in Al’s name are being accepted by his family to a charity to be determined.

Thank you to everyone that has reached out to us, whether it be a call or text, stopping by, bringing food, or saying a prayer. We have been strengthened by the support of our friends and family and appreciate you all. Please remember Al for who he was. . . and smile.

His arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer. Visit www.lifetributesfuneralhome.com to share thoughts and condolences.
