Joe was born February 15, 1933 in Marshfield, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Schill) Weiler. He attended Auburndale schools. In October of 1952 he entered the United States Army and faithfully served his country while being assigned to an artillery unit during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge in September 1954, he returned to the area and married the former Arlett Schmidt on October 25, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburndale. Sadly, Arlett passed away on December 17, 2013. Joseph was employed at Port Edwards Papers and worked as a finishing paper machine operator and in other areas of paper production at the mill until his retirement on December 1, 1994 .
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, reading and watching birds. Joe enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers, Badgers and Auburndale Apaches games and also attending school activities that his grandchildren were active in. To his family, Joe was a father that always put his children first and himself second. Each child had the privilege of having their dad help build, repair or remodel each of their homes. Always willing to lend a hand when needed. His family can still hear Dad’s quotes: ‘IT IS WHAT IT IS”, “THIS AND THAT” and “YAH YAH” and each child knew what sacrifices their mother and father made for the betterment of their children. Joe loved fishing on Pike Lake with his wife Arlett and spending time at their campsite.
Joe was a member of Saint Kilian’s Catholic Church, The American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield, a longtime member of the Stratford VFW Post 6352, a member of the Auburndale School Board from 1970 to 1982, and the commissioner of the Blenker-Sherry Sanitary District from 1970 until the present.

Weiler of Elkhart Lake; Sandra (Dale) Marth of Auburndale; Daniel (Amy) Weiler of Stevens Point; Pamela (Kent) Kalbacken of Elkhart Lake and Edward (Diane) Weiler of Junction City; his grandchildren: Katrina, Angela, Alexander, Owen, Courtney, Zachary, Breanna, Kaylin, Aaron, Laura, Bryce, Nicole, Jonathan, Lindsey, Brooke and Joseph; two sisters: Margaret (Alex) Lobner of Vesper and Jeannie (Tom) Becher of Franklin; three sister-in-laws: Sue Weiler of Nekoosa, Shirley Weiler of Auburndale and Violet Zabel of Wisconsin Rapids along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
