Ervin E. Haumschild, age 94, of Milladore, passed away at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on Friday, June 6, 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore with Rev. John Ofori-Domah officiating. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at the church in Milladore from 9 a.m. until time of services.
Ervin was born on December 29, 1919 in Milladore, the son of John and Emma (Lilly) Haumschild, Sr. He attended Stepping Stone School in Milladore and then continued to help his parents with their farming operation. Ervin also owned a milk route and later drove truck for Wood County.
On November 21, 1944, Ervin married the love of his life, Ruth K. Ertl, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield. Together, they continued dairy farming while raising their four children.
He loved woodworking, either building birdhouses or wooden calf hutches, watching the Milwaukee Brewers or maybe just enjoying some ice cream or a can of Mt. Dew. However, spending time with his family meant more to him than anything. He was always there to lend a hand, a word of encouragement, a smile or a hug.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 70 years, Ruth Haumschild of Milladore, his children: Richard (Ruth) Haumschild of Milladore, Carol (Dennis) Mancl of Plover, Lynn (Jon) Kelnhofer of Marshfield, Sharon (Dennis) Draxler of Auburndale; his grandchildren: Greg Haumschild, Jeff (Laura) Haumschild, Craig (Jessica) Brandl, Christa (Todd) Graverson, Eric and Alex Kelnhofer, Janel, Leah and Megan Draxler; 10 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Irene Haumschild of Nekoosa; one sister, Marie Dineen of St. Nazianz; two brothers: Edward (Shirley) Haumschild of Marshfield and Donald (Sandra) Haumschild of Casco along with many other relatives and friends.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Lawrence and John, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ervin’s name to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Milladore.
