Charles J. Suda
Age 83, a longtime resident of Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood with Rev. Leo Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Greenwood with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #238 of Greenwood. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church in Greenwood on Saturday from 9AM until time of service.
Charles was born on May 31, 1936 in Owen, the son of Anthony and Anna (Kaucnik) Suda. He attended Greenwood High School. Charles served his country faithfully in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage with Jeanette Wehrman on May 4, 1957 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Together they raised their children while owning and operating a dairy farm once owned by his father and mother. Farming was a passion of Charles.
His memberships included Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Greenwood American Legion Post #238, a former board member of the Town of Warner, former area boy scout leader, and a member of Dairyland Fox and Coon Hunters Club in Greenwood.
Charles loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter of coon, bear, deer and coyote. He enjoyed trapping and fishing as well.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette of Greenwood; his children: Rick (Dawn) Suda of Greenwood, Dennis (Patti) Suda of Spencer, Dean (Debi) Suda of Ham Lake, MN, Eliot (Judi) Suda of Greenwood and Janel (Jim) Kirn of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony Sr. and Anna, three brothers Stanley, John and “Sonny” and two trusted canine companions Troop and Big Joe.
If desired, memorials in Charles name are being accepted by his family for a charity to be determined.
