Obituary of Heidi Marie Link

Heidi Marie Link, age 54, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2020. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service. Committal services will be held in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Green Grove at a later date. She was born on January 17, 1966 in Marshfield, the daughter of David and Paulette (Witte) Schmitt. She graduated at Marshfield Senior High, Class of 1984. On May 16, 1987, she was united in marriage to Scott Link at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Heidi was an Administrative Secretary of the HIM Document QC & Training Department at the Marshfield Clinic Health System for 34 years. Heidi loved all animals; ducks, cats, dogs, rabbits and more. Many who found their way to her home were in need of special care. She never turned any away. She found joy and contentment spending time with her many pets. She loved to dress her animals up for different occasions whether they liked it or not. She enjoyed the once yearly trip to the casino for her mother’s birthday even though she never retired from her winnings; can’t say she didn’t try. Heidi realized her dream of visiting Hawaii in May of 2019 with her mother, sister and nephew. Two of the many highlights were swimming alongside wild dolphins and starting each day out with a Bloody Mary. She was quite the cook. Everybody looked forward to her holiday ham. She also enjoyed going fishing and camping and spending time with her family. She was an avid Nascar fan as well as Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching the games. People close to Heidi knew her for her kindness and exuberant spirit. She was always there for family and friends whatever the need. Heidi is survived by her husband, Scott; pets, Bessie, Benjamin and Tom; mother, Paulette; sister, Dana (Doug); three nephews, Craig, Alex (Megan) and Max (Ally); great-nephew, Everett; one uncle, David (Julie) Witte; sister-in-law, Sandy (Chris) and cousins and friends. She will be missed. Heidi was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Bernadine Witte; paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Ruth Schmitt and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Mary Link. In lieu of flowers, donations/memorials may be sent to MAPS (Marshfield Area Pet Shelter) or an animal-related charity of your choice.
