Gary was born on March 9, 1947 in the Town of Wien; son of the late Lester and Betty (Woldt) Bauman. He was a 1965 graduate of Edgar High School. On June 17, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Dianne Nahring at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Edgar. They were blessed with three children.

He was employed at the former Edgar Packing Plant, loaded trucks at Kohler in Plymouth and moved back to Edgar to farm his grandfather, Henry’s farm from 1968 until 2011 when his son, Keith took over the farm. Upon Keith taking over the farm, Gary worked for UBC of Wausau and semi-retired and worked for Nisley Construction Crew until his passing.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and watching the grandkids play sports. He was a huge sports fan especially the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks. He enjoyed taking a test at the end of the week administered by his youngest grandson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne of Edgar; his daughter, Gwen (Ed) Zajac of Medford; his sons, Kenneth (Debbie) Bauman of Medford and Keith (Cassi) Bauman of Edgar; his grandchildren, Nick, Chelsea (Wylie), Savannah, Ashley, Hannah, Wyatt, Korbyn “Korbie”, Chase and Karsyn; his brother, Russ (Rosie) Bauman of Edgar; his sister, Bonnie (Rick) Effinger of AZ and his mother-in-law, Melva Nahring along with many other relatives and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lester, Betty and Gordon Metcaff and his father-in-law, Vernon Nahring.

His family would like to send a special thanks to Edgar EMTs and Aspirus Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.

If desired, the family is accepting memorials in Gary’s name for a charity to be determined.
