Obituary of Geneva LaFern McConnell

Please share a memory of Geneva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Geneva L. McConnell, age 53, of Fifield, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center-Weston.

Geneva was born on March 27, 1968 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Samuel M. and Ann B. (Edwards) McConnell. She lived with her mom in Wyoming until she was 8 years old. At that time, she moved to Oklahoma and lived a year with her aunt and uncle, Margie and Warren McConnell before moving to Tulsa to live with her dad. Geneva spent two years of high school in Mooreland with her cousin, Kathy and husband, Gerald, before moving back to Tulsa.

Geneva loved adventure. After her daughter Jessy was born, she moved and spent several years in South Carolina before returning to Oklahoma. She later got married and traveled to Maryland where her son Samuel was born. Oklahoma again called her back and she enjoyed living in Guthrie, Burns Flat and Arapaho.

She was employed by the Guthrie Public Schools and the Burns Flat Public Schools working various positions. She also worked at Bar S and Braums, both in Clinton. Although she loved these jobs, she always had a love for animals. This caused her to pack her bags a few years ago to fulfill a lifelong dream. She moved back to Tulsa and attended Community Care College. She graduated as a veterinary medical assistant. Geneva held some other jobs throughout her life, but it was her veterinary assistant work that reflected her passion and respect for all animals.

Adventure was again on her mind as she traveled to Wisconsin to visit a friend at the beginning of 2020. She enjoyed being there so much that she got a job at Nestle where she was currently working.

Geneva loved going to the beach and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had a smile for everyone and was gentle and kindhearted. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Those who will cherish her memory are her daughter, Jessy (JR) Taylor-Bellamy of Conway, SC; her son, Samuel McConnell of Burns Flat, OK; her granddaughter, Carolina Smith of Johnsonville, SC; her grandsons, Elijiah Taylor of Conway, SC, Silas Bellamy of Conway, SC and Levi McConnell of Burns Flat, OK; her boyfriend, Patrick Appel of Fifield, WI; her sisters, Lori Wallentine of Montpelier, ID; Michelle Wilson and Debra Gonzalez, both of Broken Arrow, OK; her brother, Samuel McConnell of Mannford, OK; her cousin, Kathy (Gerald) Stegall of Burns Flat, OK and her aunt, Margie McConnell of Hennessey, OK along with many other relatives and friends.

Geneva was preceded in death by her mother, Ann McConnell; her father, Samuel Monroe McConnell; her uncle, Warren McConnell and her nephew, Sydney Wallentine.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Geneva on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burns Flat, OK at 2 PM. Another celebration will be held in Wisconsin on her birthday.
