Of Marshfield, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt with Rev. Dean Pingel officiating. Following the service, Eugene will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of American Legion Post 153 and VFW Post 7131 both of Pittsville. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday from 10 AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to his grandchildren: Eric Weber, Joel Weber, Miles Weber, Adam Weber, Nick Sautner, Macie Weber and Kelly Hougum. His honorary pallbearer will be Brandon McDonald.

Eugene was born on February 18, 1937, in Marshfield, the son of William and Ella (Werth) Weber. He attended Purdy Junior High later joining the Army National Guard to help serve and defend his country. On August 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Moen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. Sadly, she passed away on March 3, 1994. He was later united in marriage to Annette Laidlaw on July 31, 1999 in Marshfield. They were together for 22 years. Eugene had a long and extensive career as an auto mechanic retiring from V and H Auto in Marshfield. Never wanting to “just sit and do nothing” he continued working cutting lawns, helping as a crossing guard, exercising at the YMCA, attending any and all of the grandkids sporting events and spending time with family.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He loved his favorite NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon watching him race at Michigan, Talladega or Dover. His travel adventures took him to Arizona, Utah, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, Alabama, Alaska and Niagara Falls. All were wonderful trips filled with great memories and good times.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Annette Weber of Marshfield; his children: Kenneth Weber, Crystal (Darrell) Hougum, Lisa (Scott) Sautner, all of Marshfield, Steve (fiancé Tracy) Weber of Stratford and Stacey (Kim) Luepke of Spencer; his step children: Brian (Chris) Stroetz of Stratford, Dan (Carolyn) Stroetz of Stratford, Pam (Kevin) Dahl of Arizona and Sue (Rich) Gustke of Necedah; his grandchildren: Eric, Joel, Miles, Macie, Adam, Kelly, Nicholas and Brandon; his eight step grandchildren; his great-grandchildren, Blake and Bryce; his ten step great-grandchildren and his sisters, Delores Guden of Pittsville and Audrey Helsten of Spencer along with many other family, friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella; his first wife, Jeanette; his sons, Daniel and Michael; his brother, Laverne and his sister, Esther.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorials in Eugene’s name for a charity to be determined.

As a final tribute to Eugene’s life well lived, it was his wish to be considered a candidate for organ donation. That wish came true, for Eugene will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and recipients on the waiting list whom he gave hope to but will never ever meet.

Eugene’s arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer. Please visit www.lifetributesfuneralhome.com to share thoughts and condolences.
