Mary M. Beidel, 89, of Spencer, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer with Rev. Barry Saylor officiating. Following services, she will be laid to rest in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Thursday from 9 AM until time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to: Daniel Altmann, Kim Schmidt, Jared Schara and Warren Manecke.

Mary was born on July 19, 1932, to James and Mary (Baumann) Schara, Jr. in the Town of Emmet, Marathon County. She attended St. Robert's Parochial School in Halder. On May 26, 1954, she was united in marriage to James W. Beidel at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Halder. Together, they raised six children. She was a homemaker and later worked at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Environmental Services Department.

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer.

Her family will forever remember their mother for planning, hosting and cooking numerous holiday dinners and gatherings they shared. Those memories will last forever. Mary was always in favor of  trying her luck at the casino or a fun game of Bingo. Making homemade applesauce was always a treat for her and everyone that got to enjoy it. She liked getting creative in her adult coloring books and took great pride mowing the lawn but doing it “her way”! She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those who will cherish her memory include her children: Karen (Greg Carbone) Beidel of Columbia, SC, Roger (Patricia) Beidel of Stratford, Linda (Dana Bachmayer) Beidel of Stratford, Jeff Beidel of Colby, Gerard (Dianna) Beidel of Sparks, NV and Patricia Altmann of Marshfield; her grandchildren, Daniel Altmann, Kim (Adam) Schmidt and James “Steve” Beidel; her great-grandchildren, Kora and August Schmidt; her step grandson, Terry (Sherri Grether) Gorst; her two step great-grandchildren; her two step great-great grandchildren and her siblings, Irene Manecke and Charles (Inga) Schara along with many other relatives, friends and neighbors.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Schara, Jr.; her husband, James W. Beidel; her daughter, Wanda in infancy; a grandson, RJ Hixson; her siblings, Hildegarde, Bernard, Edwin and Aloysius Schara and a daughter-in-law, Dianne Beidel.

If desired, memorials in Mary’s name are being accepted by her family and should be directed to: The Spencer Police Department K-9 Unit.
