I extend my condolences to the Spencer Graves family. I first met Spencer in 1994 when I began working as a pathologist with him in the Marshfield veterinary diagnostic laboratory. He welcomed me with open arms and helped me with my orientation. We remained good working friends for my next 16 years , right up to my retirement. During those 16 years, I appreciated his skills, dedication and faithful cooperation as a histology technician. During those years, we exchanged many hunting and fishing stories. I regret not sharing fishing and hunting trips. I had the pleasure of meeting Mary and Eliot. Spencer (Spence) was proud of his family and spoke often about them. Since my retirement, I have received birthday and Christmas cards with Spencer's signature from the laboratory personnel . Spence has now passed from earthly life to eternal life. I hope, as saints in Heaven, to exchange more wildlife sporting stories with him again. James L. Carpenter, DVM
