Obituary of Harold Thomas Spencer
Harold T. “Buck” Spencer, 82, a Town of McMillan resident, passed away in the evening hours of Monday, October 24, 2022 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield surrounded by family and under the care of Compassus Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer with Rev. Barry Saylor officiating. He will be laid to rest in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield with full military honors. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday from 9 AM until time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to his grandsons: Ben Wright, Jake Wright, Zack Shortess, Mason Meissner, Kevin Kraus and Aaron Peaslee.
Harold was born in Marshfield on November 24, 1939 to Harold and Elizabeth (Guns) Spencer. He was a graduate of Columbus Catholic High School. He went on to become a master plumber and owned and operated his own plumbing business. On October 21, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Hoeser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer.
Buck enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, loved being an avid outdoorsman, deer hunting and fishing. With skill and patience, he enjoyed creating award-winning wines, his much sought-after delicious maple syrup or simply spending time with family and friends in a game of Sheepshead or Texas Hold’em.
Those who will cherish his memory include his loving wife, Jeanette; his children, Jan (Dan) Wright of Pittsville, Randy (Sara) Spencer of Marshfield, Sheila (Randy) Shortess of Verona, Paul (Karla) Spencer of Marshfield, Kim (Dustin) Meissner of Auburndale; his 12 grandchildren, Heather (Chris), Jake (Tabby), Ben (Jill), Kayla (Kevin), Alyssa (Aaron), Savannah (Trevor), Zack, Olivia, Elizabeth, Mia, Mason and Madden Buck; his 8 great-grandchildren and his siblings, Gloria Schnitzler of Marshfield, Gladys (Alvin) Brock of Marshfield and Clem (Heidi) Spencer of MN along with many other relatives and friends.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Elizabeth Spencer; his brothers, James and Melvin and his sister, Lois.
