Obituary of Susan Mary Freeman

Susan M. “Susie” Freeman

1953-2022, Age 69, of Spencer, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at House of the Dove in Marshfield under the care of Compassus Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer with Rev. Barry Saylor officiating. Committal services will be held privately by family at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday from 11:30 AM until time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her grandchildren, Jack, Ben, Hayly and Lauryn.

Susan was born in Marshfield to Robert and Margie (Cournoyer) Rank on May 26, 1953. She was a graduate of Columbus Catholic High School. She was united in marriage to Mark Freeman on September 8, 1973 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. Susie was employed as a preschool teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield.

She was a dedicated member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer and was a member of its PCCW.

Susie enjoyed taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens and walking through greenhouses to look at flowers. She enjoyed relaxing in her yard on her Adirondack chair with a coffee in one hand and a good book in the other or maybe curled up next to her fireplace. Other times you could find Susie in her kitchen baking delicious cookies for family to enjoy. She loved to spend as much time as she could with her grandchildren as they were her world. She loved spending time with her family and friends getting coffee, shopping and going for walks at the Wildwood Zoo.

Those who will cherish her memory include her son, Shawn (Megan) Freeman of Blaine, MN and her daughter, Brooke (Clint) Smith of Spencer; her grandchildren, Jack, Ben, Hayly and Lauryn; her mother, Margie Rank; her siblings, Sheila (Jeff) Nyberg of Marshfield, Connie (Randy) Koehler of Schofield, Mike Rank of Marshfield and Pam (Ray) Housworth of Marshfield. She is further survived by her beloved canine companion “Daisy” along with many other relatives and friends.

She is reunited in heaven with her father, Robert Rank; her husband, Mark Freeman and her canine companions “Cassie” and “Dottie”.

If desired, memorials in memory of Susie are being accepted by her family for a number of designated charities that were so very important to Susie.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Yeboah and the staff at the Oncology Department at the Marshfield Clinic as well as the staff at House of the Dove for the compassionate care given to their mom.
