Cly was born on March 11, 1921 in Honaker, VA to Victoria (Shepard) and Fred Miller, the first of eight children. She graduated from Honaker High School in 1939. After a short while at Turner’s Store, Cly went to Baltimore where she waitressed a busy 6 counter stools and they kept her hopping. Cly later moved to Kingsport, TN where she met Woody Cloud as they worked together at the Meade paper mill. On May 20, 1946 she was united in marriage to Wallace (Woody) Hamilton Cloud. Cly completed Cosmetology school but never worked at it due to fear of picky patrons. In Nov. 1963 when the Kingsport Press (Woody’s employer) was on strike, Woody and Cly moved their family, daughter Glenna, and sons Randolph (Randy) and Teddy to a new beginning on an 80-acre farm in central WI. After grandson, Brian, was born in 1989, Cly and Wally lived with their daughter in Madison Nov.-Apr. each year and returned to vegetable farming, next door to son Randy’s family, May-Oct. Sadly Wally passed away December 8, 2008. Then Cly lived year round in Madison until the present. Along with being a homemaker, her employment included Johnson Garment Co. and some seasonal work at Figi’s Cheese both located in Marshfield WI.
Hobbies included knitting dishcloths, reading, gardening, cooking for her family and making quilts. Cly especially loved making clothing for anyone who asked or where she saw a need. Cly had a heart of gold and would do any and everything in her power to help out.
