David C. Holtzhausen 1944-2023

Age 78, of Colby, passed away in the early morning hours on Monday, February 6, 2023 ,at Colonial Health and Rehabilitation of Colby under the care of St. Croix Hospice-Eau Claire.

A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held in the Spring of 2023. Information will be updated at www.lifetributesfuneralhome.com.

David was born to Alvin and Helen (Weideman) Holtzhausen on July 23, 1944, in Minnesota. He graduated from Abbotsford High and later went on to graduate from UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science.  David was licensed as a Master Electrician who owned and operated his own Electrical/ HVAC company.

He was united in marriage to Mary Wittkamp on May 20, 1967, in Abbotsford, Wisconsin. Sadly, she passed away October 18, 2019.

David held the title of Clark County Supervisor from August 2001 through April 2016. He also served the City of Colby as their Councilman from 1995 until 2013. When David had some down time, he tried to get out to the woods to do some hunting.

Those who will cherish his memory include his daughter, Jane Holtzhausen and his son, Daniel (Melissa) Holtzhausen, both of Colby; his grandchildren, Michael Hinz of Montana, Jessica Hinz of Granton and Bree Holtzhausen of Colby along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Helen, his wife, Mary and his sister, Shirley.

If desired, the family is accepting memorials in David’s name for a charity yet to be determined.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Colonial Center in Colby and the staff at St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care of David.
